What we do to support children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities:
We respect each child as an individual, nurturing them to achieve high standards whilst becoming independent and successful learners. All our children are happy, safe and secure. WPPA is fully inclusive, offering accessibility to all learners from Early Years to Year six. Our classes are supported by a teacher and two teaching assistants in Early Years and in most cases, a teacher and teaching assistant in KS1 & 2.
We provide an exciting, stimulating, creative curriculum so that our children make good progress and have opportunities to learn and play in a variety of settings.
We recognise the importance of early intervention to identify Special Educational Needs. We have strong and supportive links with outside professionals including Speech Therapists and Educational Psychologists. We also have support from the 'ASCEND' hub.
Teachers, in discussion with parents and other staff who work with the children, will discuss potential difficulties or special educational needs a child may have with the SEND Coordinator – Miss Zoe Jones - and we involve parents and children in all decision making.
We aim to provide quality provision to support and include children within the classroom. Where concerns have been raised, recognised and recorded, a programme of targeted support and classroom strategies are put in place to address the needs identified. Where necessary, support may be provided in a small group or on a one-to-one basis to deliver specific programmes of support.
Where necessary, an Individual Support Plan for each individual child with an identified need, will be drawn up to show strategies and resources that will enable them to access the curriculum within the classroom.
To discuss your child's provision please contact Zoe Jones, the school's SEND Coordinator, via the school office on 01444 415264 or office@wardenparkprimary.co.uk
